Dragonfly HairClip

A Homespun Affair

Yet another challenge! I particularly love this color combination so it was really easy and fun for me to pull this one. A Homespun Affair has put up new colors to challenge for their September 2012 issue.

I used a plain silver clasp hair clip and proceeded to cover with ribbon. I added some sheer ribbon to form the dragonfly wings and made the body out of Swarovski crystal beads.

Candy Candy Anime Theme Party

, , , , , , ,

This one is just plain pretty!
this is a Candy Candy Japanese anime theme…it was a famous cartoon soap/series which hit screens back in the late 1970s. This party is featured on the September issue of A Homespun Affair (AHA)
For the favors I gave out a pair of hair bows just like the one Candy (Candice White)  used in the series, and for the boys I gave out bow ties just like the boy characters in the same. This was a romantic series but fun one too..lots of roses (pink, white, light blue). The dress was inspired on the fashion used by Candy Candy and was made by Estrellita By Mama. and how about the amazing cake! this was made by Yanneris Genao, who does beautiful and delicious theme inspired cakes.
first say yes to the dress!

I had a great time putting this one together for the August challenge for A Homespun Affair. I stood  in front of my craft table and took a glance at the love birds die cut I had stashed in a basket, and I said to myself., hmm let me make a perfect setting for these birdies!

I used, glittery cardstock and plain ones, I tried to mix it up with different level in one color to add depth and quality to the overall scene. I also used some soft tissue flowers I had cropped a while ago, hand cut the branch and through in some glitz and rhinestone and here is what I came up with.

A Patriotic Bowtie

Estrellita By mama, A Homespun AffairHello girly girls,,,

I just made this Red White & Blue frame for a challenge over at A Homespun Affair  and wanted to share it with you.

I put this together by doing a quick hunt around my tiny craft corner, I used regular cotton fabric for the bow tie and mix and match to make it a bit funky 🙂 I try to make everything so is useful so you can actually detach the bow tie and use it as well

the rest of the materials used are white glitter heavy cardstock 12×12 I cut it to be 10×10 to sit on top of the dark blue which stayed at 12×12 to give the frame dimension. I proceeded by selecting a few images cropping and printing and of course glued it onto the pearl finish cardstock that sat on top of the heavy glittery one 🙂 sorry I don’t mean to confused you. lastly i added whatever I could find that would carry this theme well and I like the idea of simulating “fireworks

When I saw this I could not help but think back of my grandma and the picture perfect it was to see her sewing for hours, this image capture my attention immediately once I saw it a Facebook page Romantic Vintage Home, it brings back so many memories. sewing is an art that runs in my family, my mom started sewing when she was 13 for her little sister and her self, than she sewed for us her 3 daughters when we were little girls, I remember how we used to watch Candy Candy the big hit Japanese cartoon in the 80s, we would ask mom to make us Candy’s dresses and she did,. Now my mom and my sister keep on this family inherited art. I have picked a few of the designs they have created and that have been featured on many Etsy treasury lists, enjoy 🙂

A quite Victorian afternoon

One of my favorite, so country chic

“Peace out”

Until next time, have a wonderful day!
